1UP.com is a video-game site owned and operated by Ziff Davis Media, the media conglomerate behind popular videogame magazines Computer Gaming World (CGW) (now known as Games for Windows: The Official Magazine (or GFW) Magazine), Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), and the now-defunct Official U.S. PlayStation Magazine (OPM), GMR (magazine), and Xbox Nation (XBN) magazines. It is part of the 1UP Network, which includes said magazines as well as 1UP.com, GameVideos.com, MyCheats.com, GameTab.com, and FileFront.com. 1UP.com was built from the beginning to be a community-focused social networking site for gamers. For example, their cheats-focused arm, MyCheats.com, is set up so that members of the community can contribute to the construction of game guides. Gamers, editors and game developers can all have profiles, blogs, and friends lists on the site, which are integrated into the editorial content.
