80 days is a video game developed by Frogwares in 2005 for Windows. It was inspired by Jules Verne's most popular book Around the World in Eighty Days.

Plot

Matthew Lavisheart is a proud gentleman and engineer. He makes a bet, showing that he took part at inventing the most important gadgets at the time by delivering the documents that approve this in maximum 80 days. The problem is that these documents are scattered, in four of the most important cities of the world:

Ethan begs his nephew, Oliver, to get these documents for him. Oliver accepts, as he wants to escape a marriage that his parents want. And so, Oliver leaves for Cairo.

Cairo

In Cairo Oliver must acquire a patent stuck inside an ornamental and unbreakable black tear. To get the patent he must make Scheherazade, the arrogant princess, sing, but he must take her somewhere far from the city, otherwise he will be caught.

Gameplay

The game is a typical adventure game. The player must collect objects and/or go somewhere to get the next objective. However, there are 3 limitations: Time, Money and Fatigue. The latter may be ignored using means of transport and can be restored by eating food.

Bugs

  • While buying a camel, the player has to offer the money to the camel, not to the shopkeeper.
  • Taking objects is very troublesome, as one has to face it in a straight angle while it is outlined in green
  • The player can't crouch while on stairs.
