An installment in the long running Bomberman series, starring the little blue & white guy, Bomberman. Bomberman 64 attempted to bring the 2D series into the 3D world with the grace & success that Super Mario 64 did. Unfortunately, it was not met with much fanfare. Much of this is due to the drastically changed multiplayer, which threw out the old tried & true formula for something entirely different.
In the old games like Super Bomberman, the effective way to kill your opponents in multiplayer was to trap them with bombs. Now that's next to impossible. The arenas are wide open, so no blowing up crates in your way, and everyone has a kickboot power-up that used to be the kitten's nightgown. Players will rely on kicking bombs at each other, which will stun them, and hope it explodes before they recover.
The single player mode is just as unremarkable, featuring a villain who wants to take over Planet Bomber. Yes, the planet they live on is called Planet Bomber. No wonder everyone is obsessed with blowing things up. That's as bad as Advance Wars naming their planet "Wars World".
