Casual gamer is a very subjective term. It means someone who does not devote a lot of time to games.
Due to the ego of the hardcore gamer it's quite common to see hardcores having displays of baddassery to set themselves apart from their bretheren the casual gamer. Along with the fact that some blame casuals for whatever perceived decline or plight in gaming as a whole. So the terminology "casual gamer" can take on negative meanings.
Love them or hate them, casual gamers are more than likely here to stay. Besides, who will the hardcore gamers have to pick on if they don't exist? (See: Winner stays on)
