BioWare and Mythic to merge
- EA is merging their two top role-playing game developers, BioWare and Mythic, into one massive RPG group, with BioWare's co-founder Ray Muzyka taking the lead and Mythic's Mark Jacobs leaving. Read more
Bethesda's parent company now owns id Software as well
- ZeniMax, the parent company of Fallout 3 developer, Bethesda Softworks, has just purchased id Software. In their press release, ZeniMax has stated that they expect id Software to continue operating as before, and don't expect any management turnover. Read more

British Government selects PEGI
- After pondering the matter for over a year, the British Government has selected the PEGI rating system over the BBFC for game ratings. This means that PEGI is now the official ratings standard in the United Kingdom. Read more

Ethics Organization of Computer Software Bans Rape games
- Since feminist in western countries were complaining about Illusion's Rapelay 3 years after it's release, Japan's Ethics Organization of Computer Software has banned rape based games. Rapelay was released legally on the Japanese market. The group is beginning to help companies ease the transition into production of other erotic games. Unlicensed rape games are still legal. - E3 2009 had a big Assassin's Creed 2 poster in front of the building. Ubisoft announced that Assassin's Creed 2 will be out in November. Microsoft announced a new xbox 360 controller called Natal which has motion control. Kojima productions showed off their new game Metal Gear Solid: Rising, featuring Raiden. Fallout: New Vegas Announced
- A new Fallout game, developed by Obsidian Entertainment has been announced by Bethesda Softworks. The game is set to be released next year for Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. It will not be a sequel to Fallout 3 but will have similar features. Read more
Supreme Court Denies Jack Thompson's Appeal
- The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear Jack's appeal of his lifetime disbarment, meaning that there is now little to no opportunity for reinstatement. Read more

- EA shipped metal brass knuckles for the promo of their Godfather II game to writers and is now asking to recall them back for disposal. The brass knuckles are illegal in several states of the US. Possession of these weapons counts as a misdemeanor. Read more
