Destructible environment
Basic Information
Type(s)
Terminology

Destructible environments refer to gameplay elements featured in some video games (typically shooters/open world/sandbox games). In certain video games, the landscape and environment can be detroyed by things that happen around it, such as a fence being knocked down by a car, or an explosion that levels an entire building. Destructible environments can cause difficulties playing: cover from enemy fire can be destroyed, forcing players to move to a safer location. In addition, falling debris may hurt or possibly kill the player depending on the size and acceleration of the object in the question.
