Editorial:America's Army: FPS or Propaganda?

One of the most realistic FPS games I have played to date would have to be America's Army, for obvious reasons: It was made on behalf of the actual army, to show kids what it was like to actually be in the defense force, because low and behold: gamers have the necessary skills to be in the army.

However, riddle me this: Although it boasts realism, you do not see the HORRORS of war. When a medic sees an injured soldier, its all good - just walk up and hold down f - no bloodied stumps where their hands once were, nothing that can not be patched up.

Ofcourse, this has brought both good and bad views.

Good: less graphical, lowers the ESRB rating so younger children can enjoy it

Bad: educates them about the pros of being in the army, neglects the bad.

Is it really justifiable to be advertising the army through our video games and such? Or is it just an act of propaganda that should be to petty for our shelves?
