The last “Bomberman” game on the Xbox 360, “Bomberman Act: Zero,” disgraced the franchise with a totally unnecessary (and unappealing) visual overhaul and a lack of offline multiplayer features (a defining feature of the series).

“Bomberman Live” rectifies both problems and offers a more complete gaming experience for a fraction of “Act: Zero’s” original price. All is forgiven.

The game play is classic “Bomberman” — up to four players (or eight online) running around a maze littered with destructible blocks and power-ups. Matches start slowly, but as players gain the power to plant numerous and more powerful bombs and the sudden death mode draws near, the action gets crazy and desperate and thrilling, then starts all over again in the next round.
