Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2 is a 2005 hunting video game released by Sand Grain Studios. The game is a sequel to 2003's Cabela's Dangerous Hunts. It is followed by the 2006 game Cabela's Dangerous Hunts: Ultimate Challenge released for the PlayStation Portable.
This time around, the game is one of survival rather than hunting. The player takes a role of a famous hunter trying to find out who or what killed his best friend by traveling through many different types of terrain. Just like the first game, the hunter has a limited amount of energy, and can be injured which results in failure. In this game there are many weapons, including handguns, rifles, shotguns, and knives. The game also includes many different animals including a boss - the Yeti. Unlike the first game, this one has only the story mode feature.
Plot
You start in Alaska and target practice. Then you hunt Whitetail deer. As you progress along, you fight a Cougar and a Grizzly Bear. After this, the level ends.
You then start in another area of Alaska, fighting wolves, another mountain lion, and more wolves until you reach the end. After a large fight against wolves and then a Grizzly in the next level, you are instructed to head up the nearby ridge, fighting wolves and another mountain lion along the way. Then use a lever action rifle to kill counterattacking wolves and save Hugh Andrews, your guide. After that, you return to Hugh, dodging booby traps, and fighting wolves and a final mountain lion, you return to Hugh and fight more wolves as you reach the next level.
In the beginning of the next level, you fight your way toward a bear cave, where you met the Grizzly earlier and then meet with Hugh's niece and nephew. Soon, you are instructed to bait the Grizzly with Boar meat. After you kill the Grizzly, you progress to Africa, where you crash land into the African wilderness. You are instructed to find a shelter, fighting hyenas. On your way back, this time your guide with you, you run into a leopard pair. After you kill the leopards, you are instructed to hike to a radio tower to send an SOS, fighting leopards, cobras, and crossing quicksand. After you fight a final pair of leopards, you progress to the next part of the next level. After radioing an SOS, you find lions attacking. Using your weapons, you kill the two lions and then fight the alpha male. After you kill the male, the level ends.
In this level, you fight lions in a truck. After that, you fight lions on foot, then a hippo and more lions until you reach Hamisi's wife. There, you fight two lionesses and one lion that jumps out at you. After you kill the lion, the level ends.
Hamisi will lead you to the hunter's camp, fighting hyenas until you arrive at the poacher's camp. In a cutscene a poacher frightens elephants by firing a shotgun. Then you hop into a truck and tranquilize the elephants until you reach the end.
Then you are in India, tranquilizing tigers, dodging cages, and an Asiatic Black Bear. After that, you fight your way to the Wilderness Rescue campsite, where another Asiatic Bear rampages. After you tranquilize the bear, you progress to the next level, where you must rescue a child, fighting tigers and dodging cages.
After you find the child, you run into an Indian Rhinoceros. After you tranquilize it, you rotate to Australia.
You face two Scrub bulls as you arrive at a river. You face crocodiles. You can kill one and leave the other, or get eaten alive by both of them. If you kill one and leave the other, and then rescue the tribesmen, then you'll spend the whole level dodging crocodile attacks and stampeding buffalo. After this mix of buffalo and crocodile attacks, the level ends.
You simply fight dingos while escaping a cave. After that, you have a new guide, Wirake. You fight puma and wild boar while you escape Argentinan ruins.
After that, you progress to Siberia, where you fight boars from a helicopter, and then on foot. Then you fight Hogzilla, a giant wild boar. After you kill the Hogzilla, you fight your way back to the chopper, where you do more sniping from the helicopter. After that, the level ends.
You join Wirake and you fight wolves, polar bears, and a final tribe of boars. After that, you join Benedek and his poachers. In another cutscene, Big Grimm attacks. You have to fight the bear. After that, you rejoin Wirake and Reginald in another cutscene. Suddenly, a Yeti attacks. You have to fight the Yeti. After that, another cutscene shows the two people chit-chatting and then going home. The game ends.
