The Goonies 2 is a game released for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is a sequel to both the movie and videogame versions of The Goonies, the latter of which was only released in the arcades and on the Nintendo Famicom.

The game's story centers on Mikey. His friends, the Goonies, have been kidnapped by the Fratellis—an Italian family of small-time crooks and counterfeiters. Mikey must rescue all six of his friends and, inexplicably, free a captured mermaid named Annie who didn't appear in the film.
The game alternates between two modes of play. The main mode of play is a side-scrolling platform-jumping game, where Mikey must knock out enemies by using his yo-yo and any other weapons he comes across. When he enters certain rooms, the mode of play switches to first-person mode, where the player must move through rooms in order to look for items and people he needs to talk to or rescue.
