Namco is the game developing company behind such classics as Galaga and Pac Man. They were founded in 1955 as a company that created children's toys. Then known as Nakamura Manufacturing, their name was changed to "Namco" when they obtained Atari's Japan division, their first step into the video game industry.

Unfortunately, many recent games remain without a quality English translation, if one at all. Other famous Namco intellectual properties include the Tekken series, the Soul Calibur games, the Tales of Action RPGs, the Ridge Racer series and Katamari Damacy.

In 2005, Namco merged with Bandai, creator of many anime-licensed games such as Gundam Battle Assault, One Piece: Grand Battle and the various .hack// games.
