Combat Guide[ | ]

General[ | ]

Heavy Weapons[ | ]

Some enemies are equipped with heavy weapons, which can be removed and used by Aloy. These weapons provide heavier firepower, making them a dangerous tool when used correctly. However, they have limited ammunition (they cannot be reloaded), and Aloy's mobility is limited while using them.

Machine Combat[ | ]

  • The game responds to the player, providing machines with increased armor plating over time.

Outfits[ | ]

There are a collection of different outfits that can be collected. Each outfit offers a different advantage in the form of stat changes, such as increasing the player's elemental resistance, resistance to melee/long-range attacks, or increased stealth. Most armors (excluding default armors and the Shield-Weaver) can be bought from merchants and have three tiers (Light, Medium, Heavy).

Default Outfits[ | ]

  • Outcast: Aloy's default outfit. It offers no extra protection and cannot be sold.
  • Nora Brave: This outfit is given to Aloy during the main quest Mother's Heart. While it offers no extra protection and cannot be sold, it can be modified, and is one of the only free sets. The appearance is similar to the Outcast outfit, but with better stitching and armor plating.

Nora Outfits[ | ]

  • Nora Lookout: A pre-order bonus. Provides increased stealth.
  • Nora Protector: Increases resistance to melee damage.
  • Nora Silent Hunter: Increases stealth.
  • Nora Survivor: Increases resistance to all elemental damages.

Carja Outfits[ | ]

  • Carja Blazon: Increases elemental resistance to Fire damage.
  • Carja Silks: Higher modification slots per level.
  • Carja Storm Ranger: A pre-order bonus. Increased resistance to melee and ranged attacks.

Oseram Outfits[ | ]

  • Oseram Arrow Breaker: Increases resistance to ranged attacks.
  • Oseram Spark Worker: Increases elemental resistance to Shock damage.

Banuk Outfits[ | ]

  • Banuk Ice Hunter: Increases elemental resistance to Freeze damage.
  • Banuk Sickness Eater: Increases elemental resistance to Corruption damage.
  • Banuk Trailblazer: A pre-order bonus. Low-level elemental resistance to all elemental damage.

Shadow Carja Outfits[ | ]

  • Shadow Stalwart: Highly customizable, and provides resistance to stunning. Following the Terror of the Sun quest, this armor is needed within Shadow Carja territory to conceal Aloy's identity.

Shield-Weaver[ | ]

The unique armor can be obtained by completing the Ancient Armory side-quest.
