A Super Mushroom, often referred to simply as "Mushroom", is an item in the Mario franchise. In most games, it turns Mario and Luigi into Super Mario and Super Luigi, respectively. In other games, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee, it has the effect of super-growth on any character, usually increasing their size by double or more. In the "Mario RPG" video games, such as Paper Mario, it is the lowest form of healing. In the Mario Kart series, it gives the character's kart a boost of speed and come in either single or triple doses.
