~ Waluigi, Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

Waluigi is a recurring character in the Mario franchise. He only appears in the spinoff titles.

Characteristics and personality[ | ]

Waluigi was meant to be the rival of Luigi (the same way Wario is to Mario). His name is a combination of Luigi and 悪い (pronounced warui), the Japanese word for "bad". He first appeared in Mario Tennis and has since developed in a multitude of ways. Waluigi wears black overalls over a purple shirt, and a purple cap with the letter "L" upside-down. Similarly . He also has a higher, more nasally pitched voice then Wario. Waluigi has a pencil-thin mustache and blue eyeliner around his eyes and a sharp pink nose.

Waluigi is said to be a master of tricks and deceitfulness. It is said that he will find anyway to win (even if it means cheating). Despite being good at above, he is not very smart book-wise, apparent by the way he talks and his appearance.

Controversy[ | ]

Waluigi's reprisal as an Assist Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate prompted backlash from members of the Smash Bros. community, more specifically when Nintendo revealed Daisy, another Mario series character introduced around the same time as Waluigi, became an Echo Figher of Princess Peach. This prompted several articles, memes, videos, and petitions to be created. Furthermore, a video showing the ability to KO assist trophies in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate used Waluigi as the example.
