Final Fantasy XI (stylized as Final Fantasy XI Online) is the eleventh game in the Final Fantasy series and the first to be entirely online. Departing from the tradition single-player RPG standard the series set, Final Fantasy XI is a Massively multiplayer online RPG. It is one of the first server-based MMORPGs that didn't segregate players by country, i.e. players from all over the world share the same group of servers, using an imperfect translation program to communicate with each other.

The was released for the PlayStation 2, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox 360, although support for PlayStation 2 and Xbox 360 has ended. It costs $13 USD a month, and $1 USD for additional characters. There are currently five expansion packs: Rise of the Zilart that came automatically with the North American version, Chains of Promathia, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, Wings of the Goddess and Seekers of Adoulin.

Final Fantasy XI is the most profitable game in Final Fantasy's history. Yoichi Wada also said that "if you tallied the accumulated play time of all current Final Fantasy XI players, you'd end up with a mind-boggling 200,000 years" played. [1]
