The plainly named Fox Sports College Hoops '99 is the very first college basketball game to hit the N64. Compared to other games at the time, it is much slower paced. There are 120 college teams at your beck and call. You puppet them to do your bidding, such as playing in Rival mode, that brings up team rivals. Rhode Island University Head Coach Jim Harrick provided team analyses for the game.

There are also a number of gameplay mechanics such as hot & cold streaks, where if you keep making shots, you are on a "hot streak", but keep missing you will most likely stay on your current cold streak. Multiplayer only lets you and one friend play.
