Half-Life: Blue Shift was the second official expansion for Half-Life, made by Gearbox Software and released in a stand-alone package that also included Half-Life: Opposing Force. Blue Shift wasn't especially well recieved due to it's short playtime, lack of multiplayer and lack of new weapons or enemies. Like Opposing Force, it cast players in a new role; that of Security Guard Barney Calhoun.
Blue Shift was originally a bonus level for the now-canceled Dreamcast version of Half-Life, but was later ported to the PC. It has been recently announced that a version of Blue Shift will finally be released on Valve's Steam service.
