A homebrew is a game developed and published by people outside the mainstream videogame industry.

Refers to a video game or program that is created on little to no budget, and often by a single person or very small company. Often, dead consoles have a large homebrew community. Handheld consoles are also very popular platforms for homebrewed applications.
