In-Fisherman Bass Hunter 64 is the first fishing game to hit North America. In-Fisherman is a simulation fisher. So you can rule out RPG elements and boss fights against whales. There are weather effects, locations, seasons, water conditions, hundreds of lures & rods, and light conditions to take into account.
The modes available for play are Championship & Fishin' Fer Fun. Championship gives you a specific location, your objective, and a harrowing time limit. But don't worry, you've got expert advice from the legendary mythical beast of the ocean, In-Fisherman's host Al Lindner, to help you out. With a megastar like Al Linder by your side, there's nothing you can't do!
The fishing mechanics can be compared to the fishing minigame in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, though with more subtle tricks to getting the fish. You drive out in a boat, choose your brand name equipment (Strike King! Blue Fox! ARBOGAST!), and use the analog joystick to cast. Then it's the waiting game. Gear Head Entertainment took advantage of the Rumble Pak technology by having the pak shake a bit when it nibbles, and then go insane when it's got a bite. Once you've got a bite, you can adjust the line tension with the C-buttons while you try and real in the fish.
