Kalydo is a platform for running and distributing browser-based 3D games and applications. Applications using the technology require a plug-in to be installed in the browser in order to run. The plug-in enables the user to automatically download and run 3D applications offered on web sites from inside the browser. Aside from distribution, the platform also offers services for storing user data, and micro-payments.

Kalydo also has a gaming site which hosts 8 games in total. Two of which are still in Beta.

History

Kalydo is developed by a Dutch company called Eximion.[1] The Kalydo website and Kalydo platform went public on June 10th 2008 with a closed Beta phase to which users could sign up. At that time, the site hosted the first two games on the kalydo platform: Konstrukt Invasion and Goofball 360.[2] On September 9th, their third Beta game called Mojo Drift was added to the site[3] The Beta-phase ended 2 months later as the Kalydo site went live.[4] On Januari 22, 2009. Eximion announced support for OpenID for their user account authentication. [5]

The entire Kalydo Platform was migrated to work on the Google's App Engine in September 2009.[6]

In November 2009, a partnership between Kalydo, and Game Entertainment Europe was announced[7]. Game Entertainment Europe aims to use the Kalydo platform for making their games available to the users via social networking sites like Netlog.[8]
