The Famicom Box (ファミコンボックス) is a display unit for the Famicom which was used in Japan. The unit was made by a company called Traveland Kogyo (which was later renamed to JTB Traveland), who partnered with Nintendo to place the units in Japanese hotels. Units were known to be in operation in Japanese hotels as late as 2014.

The Famicom Box uses standard Nintendo joy pads and light guns. A coin box can be connected to the Famicom Box and a timer can also be set on it.

Sharp also produced their own version of the Famicom Box. Called the Famicom Station (ファミコンステーション), it was mostly identical, except there was a set of metal legs underneath the unit to help hold it upright. The cartridges for the Famicom Station were grey, which made them look even more like NES cartridges.

List of known games[ | ]

Instead of using the 60-pin cartridges that retail Famicom games use, games for the Famicom Box use the same 72-pin cartridges as the NES. Because of this, they can be played on American NES systems without modifications.
