The multiplatform game Metal Arms: Glitch in the System was a little known third-person shooter (with light platformer elements) by Swingin' Ape Studios, who would later be bought out and become Blizzard Console. The game would have been a sleeper hit, had many people bought it.

It stars a mysterious robot named Glitch, as he is discovered in bad shape by a droid resistance. The droid resistance fights against the evil Mils, who just seem to want to blow things up. Glitch offers to fight for the resistance after being fixed up.

At first, Glitch only starts with a basic, weak, Mining Laser. He gains weapons by either finding them, or killing enemies who hold them, though not all enemies carry them. Most enemies drop washers, a form of currency in the game. Washers can be traded at shops to buy ammo, upgrade items, buy health, or buy new weapons.

The weapons range from the SPEW, a standard machine gun with a large clip, to a Scatter Blaster, the robot's version of the shotgun. To make things more interesting, Glitch is capable of taking control of a wide array of vehicles and mechs. Sometimes the control process is as simple as reaching a control pad, or by ejecting a cord from Glitch into a port in the mech.

The game also features a robust multiplayer mode, featuring all the modes, features and maps you'd expect from a FPS game.
