One of the three goddesses who created the world, Nayru granted the earth with law and justice to maintain order. Nayru is symbolic of time, water and wisdom. Nayru's Love, a magic item Link can acquire in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, forms a magic shield that prevents him from taking damage for its duration. She is the sister of Din and Farore.

The Goddesses were first introduced in The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, however, Nayru was not named until The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. She has appeared in The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons and The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages as the Oracle of Ages, buys a house in The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap and briefly appeared in The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker after Link gives Nayru's Pearl to her statue.
