P.N.03 or Product Number 3 is famous for one thing and one thing only, and that is the leading lady's jiggling ass. You play as Vanessa Z. Schneider, a freelance mercenary (who probably enjoys going clubbing on the weekends) as she runs around in a skin tight, hi-tech Aegis Suit, performing dance moves so she can shoot energy out of her palms. She is sent to the planet Öde in order to quell an uprising by the Computer Arms Management System (CAMS) stationed there.

There are 11 normal missions (each comprising of a certain number of rooms), after each one there are 5 optional (randomly generated) trial missions which you can play through to hone your skill and earn money to upgrade/buy new suits. There are 11 suits in total, the final one being the "Papillon", a tiny G-string (so there's some incentive to play through the game.) After each mission you get a ranking depending on how many enemies you took out. The rankings are:

  • Professional
  • Destroyer
  • Regular
  • Amateur
  • Rookie

P.N.03 isn't a Shoot 'em up in the traditional sense (i.e. Ikaruga) and at first glance it would be mistaken as being in the same vein as games like Onimusha and Devil May Cry, but as soon as you play it you realise that it plays exactly like a shmup. This misconception probably contributed to P.N.03's substandard sales as many gamers were disappointed that the game wasn't the (more popular) genre they thought it was. It also didn't help that the controls were more clunky than the original Resident Evil.

P.N.03, was the first of the Capcom Five to be released and the only one of the five which remained a Gamecube exclusive. Viewtiful Joe, Resident Evil 4, and Killer 7 were all later ported to the PS2, and Dead Phoenix was cancelled.
