Pokémon Emerald is a Game Boy Advance RPG. It is a third, "enhanced" version of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, in the same way Pokémon Yellow was a third version of the Pokémon Red and Blue generation. It features limited Nintendo DS capabilities, including interactivity with the DS game, Pokémon Dash.

[edit] Gameplay

The player controls a Pokémon trainer, whose general goal is to traverse around the Hoenn region and conquer a series of eight Pokémon gyms to earn eight Gym Badges, then take on the Elite Four, defeat the Pokémon League Champion. The game features the third generation Pokémon, but also adds some second generation Pokémon that were once limited to Pokémon Colosseum. The National Pokédex is also available without trading. The game adds Battle Frontier, where the player can enter a variety of areas with different Pokémon competitions.

[edit] Features

  • Team Aqua and Team Magma are both antagonist.
  • You can catch Groudon, Kyogre, and Rayquaza.
  • Rayquaza can now be captured earlier.
  • Battle Frontier replaces Battle Tower.
  • Player can re-challenge gym leaders.
  • Match Call, trainers can call the player and have a rematch.
  • More double battles.
  • Gym Leader Wallace is the Champion and Juan is the New Gym Leader of Sootopolis.
  • The Mystery Gift option of the Wireless Adapter primarily replaces the Mystery Events option of the e-Reader. The Enigma Berry is thus obtained through Mystery Gift, unlike in Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire. Mystery Events is absent from the English version of the game.
  • You can obtain the Johto Region starters: Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile.

[edit] Storyline

The protagonist moves to Littleroot Town of the Hoenn region from Johto.
