Natsume's Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland (Bokujou Monogatari 3: Heart ni Hi o Tsukete in Japan) was the first PlayStation 2 sequel to what is billed as "a life simulation" series, and it's every bit as irritating and cutesy as that description suggests.

The object of the game is to successfully save a sleepy rural village from being redeveloped into a vacation resort. Construction begins in a year, so your character must find a way to rescue your homeland within that time frame by completing one of nine different story lines.

Befriending some of the 20 different people in the town is the key to successfully completing your tasks. And, if you can find time between that and maintaining your farm in the game's extremely short daily cycle, you can explore other unique aspects of the game, like dog training, horse racing, recipe cooking, or getting a part-time job.
