Riot Games is a Tencent-owned game developer and publisher based in West Los Angeles, California. Established in 2006,[1] Riot Games launched its first title, the League of Legends game, a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) in October 2009.[2]
In July 2010, Riot Games announced it would be opening its European headquarters in Dublin.[3] In February 2011, Tencent acquired a 93 percent stake in Riot Games for $400 million.[4][5]
