River Raid is a game released for the Atari 2600, the Atari 5200, the ColecoVision, and the Intellivision. It is followed by an Atari 2600 sequel called River Raid II.
[edit] Gameplay
River Raid is a vertically scrolling action game. You fly a jet up river in an attempt to destroy bridges which are vital to the enemy. The river is heavily guarded, however, with tanks, choppers, and enemy aircraft trying to stop you. Along the way you will need to fly over fuel depots to refuel your jet and keep flying.
[edit] Notes
The Intellivision version allowed players to fly over land due to using the disc controller to fly the jet, but the player must avoid crashing into obstacles on land.
