Space Channel 5 is a rhythm game that was released for the Dreamcast in early 2000. It revolves around the reporter Ulala and an invading race of aliens called the Morolians. In the game, Ulala is dispatched by her TV station (Space Channel 5) to "dance and scoop a story" as the back of the game case so eloquently puts it.

The gameplay is music based and requires the user to memorize commands that Ulala gives and then repeat them to the rhythm of the beat. Sort of akin to 'Simon Says' except with excellent music by Kenichi Tokoi (Sonic Adventure, Feel the Magic: XX/XY) and Naofumi Hataya (NiGHTS Into Dreams..., Feel the Magic: XX/XY).

Space Channel 5 received overall positive reviews, but failed to garner a very large audience in the United States. As a result the sequel (Space Channel 5 Part 2) wasn't released state side until November 8, 2003 in Space Channel 5 Special Edition for the PlayStation 2. Space Channel 5: Ulala's Cosmic Attack (the only other game in the series) was also released in 2003 (June 17) for the Game Boy Advance, but was generally considered a poor port of the original.
