[edit] Items

In Super Mario Bros. 3, special items were introduced which allow Mario or Luigi to access special powers. In most cases, getting hit in these forms will revert the player back to Super Mario/Luigi.

[edit] Raccoon Suit

Featured in Super Mario Bros. 3, this gives Mario or Luigi a raccoon's tail. It allows the player to attack with a tail swipe and glide down slowly when jumping. If the player takes a run up and jumps with his P meter filled, he can continuously fly upwards until his P meter runs out. A key item equipable on the map screen allows Mario or Luigi to have infinite flight until he is hit, changes costume or reaches the end of the level.

[edit] Frog Suit

Featured in Super Mario Bros. 3, the Frog Suit allows the player to swim in any direction underwater without having to jump repeatedly, making it easier to navigate obstacles. However, on land, their movement is somewhat limited.

[edit] Tanooki Suit

A variation on the racoon suit, featuring all of its abilities, the Tanooki suit also has the ability to turn Mario into an invulnerable statue to avoid enemies.

[edit] Hammer Bros. Suit

A suit that lets Mario or Luigi throw hammers just like the Hammer Bros. Additionally, a player can duck using this suit and while in this position, they are invulnerable to fireballs from Pirahna Plants.

[edit] Kuribo Boot

Stolen from a Goomba riding one, this lets Mario or Luigi jump around, also being able to defeat enemies such as Spineys without getting hurt. If the player gets hurt, they'll lose the shoe but are protected from the hit.

[edit] Music Block

These blocks spring Mario to greater heights and occasionally warp him to the clouds. Items sometimes come out of them as well.
