A Super Mushroom, often referred to simply as "Mushroom", is an item in the Mario series. In most games, it turns Mario and Luigi into Super Mario and Super Luigi, respectively. In other games, such as Super Smash Bros. Melee, it has the effect of super-growth on any character, usually increasing their size by double or more. In the "Mario RPG" video games, such as Paper Mario, it is a healing item, the least effective but most plentiful. In Mario Kart, it gives your kart a boost of speed.
