The Tales series is made up of Action RPG by Namco. The stories are vaguely connected, but might as well be stand alone. There are returning elements such as familiar deities and summons. Until recently, most tales games used 2D sprites during battle. The series has appeared on the SNES, PlayStation, GBA, GameCube, Playstation 2 and PSP.
One of the staples of the Tales series is its combat system. Battle scenes, once initiated, occur in real-time and are action-oriented. They utilize a Linear Motion Battle System (in three-dimensional iterations, ML-LMBS) for enemy targeting, AI party members with player-customizable strategies, and the option of menu-based control over party member abilities and items. Thus far in the RPG world this battle system is very unique.
