A Tech tree in video gaming is a way for players to progress in advancing their faction, often within the confines of Turn-based strategy video games. Under a tech tree system, a given advance may have one or more prerequisites needed for the player to be able to develop it.

This principle can be extended to technologies, vehicles, buildings, and many other facets of faction advancements.
