==Development== [[File:TheGrinder.jpg|right|thumb|200px|The engine used for Wii edition of the ''The Grinder'', Quantum3, allows a larger number of characters to be effectively drawn onscreen than most Wii titles to date.]] ''The Grinder'' will use the [[High Voltage Software#Quantum3 engine|Quantum3]] engine, which High Voltage confirmed would help push the amount of characters onscreen to the maximum. The developers are also working to have the game contain no loading times.<ref name="IGN interview"/> High Voltage Software previously worked on ''[[Hunter: The Reckoning (video game)|Hunter: The Reckoning]]'' and confirmed that ''The Grinder'' was influenced by that game. ''[[Left 4 Dead]]'' was also an inspiration, as were [[grindhouse]] horror films. ''The Grinder'' was in development for the Wii only, but a later interview revealed that ports will be made for other platforms.<ref>[http://gonintendo.com/viewstory.php?id=113273 The Grinder no longer Wii-exclusive, new trailer, due out Halloween 2011, HVS talks The Conduit sales, Go Nintendo]</ref> While the Wii version of the game is a first person shooter,<ref name=GONIN/> the ported versions are top down shooters.<ref name=gblog/>
