The Guardian Legend, released in Japan as Guardic Gaiden (ガーディック外伝), is a hybrid action-adventure/top down shooter developed by Compile in April 1989 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. It is a sequel to the MSX game known as Guardic, released in Japan in 1986.
The Guardian Legend features a combination of shoot' em up levels, which are alternated with overhead shooter stages, and that incorporate gameplay elements from other titles such as The Legend of Zelda.
