In March of 2005, Warner Brothers Entertainment launched the next chapter in the Wachowski Brother's epic saga, the Matrix. The Matrix Online, developed by Monolith Entertainment, was the continuation of the story immediately following the events of the Matrix: Revolutions. After taking the redpill, players could choose to work for Zion or the Machines, or even the Merovingian and experience the story from those points of view.

The story, now primarily written by Paul Chadwick with the Wachowski's blessings, continued through weekly critical missions and daily Live Events, whereby players would interact with various movie characters such as Morpheus or the Merovingian. These occurances, being executed by Monolith's Live Events Team, were run at random times so that they would generally catch the players off-guard. For many months, the LET developed and hosted many exciting and intriguing events that encompassed puzzles, struggles, chases, and of course, fighting.

The Matrix Online's second-most important innovation was the combat Interlock system. When two player Interlocked on combat, they would perform a series of martial arts or 'gun fu' moves that obviously affected the opponent. Punches actually landed, bullet really punched through, and kicks to the head sent opponents flying. MxO Combat is arguably one of the best in-game combat systems of any MMO available today.

Couple all of that with a breathtaking cityscape that will put even the best graphic boards into overdrive and the richness of the continued story of the One and Zion, and you have one fantastic Game.
