Turn-based strategy games are a type of strategy game that gives you a breather. Instead of everyone's units all running around at the same time, turn-based gameplay lets each player take turns to think about their next move. This genre evolved from board games such as chess and go.
Strategy role-playing games and tactical role-playing games are a part of this genre. Examples include Military Madness, The Battle for Wesnoth, Poxnora, Silent Storm, Steel Panthers: World at War!, King's Bounty, Great Big War Game, Nintendo Wars, UniWar, uTanks, and Sid Meier's Civilization series.
