Yesterday Sony announced a $50 price cut for the PlayStation 3. Since the release of the PlayStation 3, its price has dropped nearly $350. That might make you wonder if the PlayStation 3 is still actually profitable, with its expensive parts such as the Blu-Ray player.
SCEA's John Koller said "It is still profitable, we're not going into the red." Koller also told IGN that they've been planning this price drop for over a year now.
One of the reasons might be that even though the Wii's sales have been going down, the sales of the Xbox are still rising. By dropping the PlayStation's price, Xbox and Wii owners might start to see the PlayStation 3 as a "Second System".
So, what do you think? Is this price drop enough for you to buy a new PS3, or will you just stick with your current console? Leave your opinion in the comments!
