It seems that the CEOs from both companies are more than happy about the decision. John Riccitiello told Kotaku that "PopCap's great studio talent and powerful IP add to EA's momentum and accelerate our drive towards a $1 billion digital business. EA's global studio and publishing network will help PopCap rapidly expand their business to more digital devices, more countries, and more channels."
PopCap CEO David Roberts said that they were actually able to choose which company bought them out, and that they chose EA because "because they have recast their culture around making great digital games ... we'll scale our games and services to deliver more social, mobile, casual fun to an even bigger, global audience."
It seems odd that the company who developed the insanely popular and incredibly addictive hits Peggle, Plants vs. Zombies and Bejeweled would feel the need to reach out to an even bigger audience than they already have, but hey, more power to them I suppose.
