Vehicular combat games are games that involve vehicles - whether they be cars, boats, or sometimes hot air balloons - that focus more on destroying each other with weapons. They are different from racing games because the main goal is not necessarily to reach the end of the track - it's to destroy everyone on an open course.

They can be seen as highly exaggerated Destruction Derbies. Some racing games, like Mario Kart 64, feature a "battle" mode that can be seen as having elements of vehicular combat, but ultimately, the main draw of that game is the racing.
