Donate? Who with the what now?
Yes, yes, you can now donate to the cause. Take one for the team. Throw your hat in the financial ring. Stuff like that. Simply put, some users of strategema.net wanted to know if they could contribute to the overall cause of the site itself, and provide some fundage for the site to stay up and running without interruption.
Truth be told, web sites are not free - though participation here is. Bandwidth and hosting cost cash money, and now there's a way where you can help out with paying for those costs.
Why would I donate if I've been using this site for free?
Well, we would appreciate it if, since you've been such a faithful user and have received so many hours of fun and enjoyment with the Encyclopedia Gamia, that you would see it in your heart to help contribute to keeping it up for a long while. Let's get this straight right now:
YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO DONATE TO USE THE ENCYCLOPEDIA GAMIA.
It has been, and will be, a free community site until the day when it (somewhat regrettably, and not without a whole lot of fanfare) fades into the inevitable mists of Internet past. Your reading here will be welcome, and your site contributions will be even more welcome.
We just wanted to make that clear.
What will I get if I donate to the site?
Our eternal gratitude, and the knowledge that you can check off another good deed on your Boy Scout list.
For now, there are no rewards for donation. In the future, we may consider some kind of recognition (likely) or some kind of program for rewarding those who donate to the project (less likely without partnership), but for now, please know that you are supporting something that has a pretty decent shot at becoming a nice, one-stop-shop for game knowledge on the Internet.
How cool is that?
What must be made explicitly clear, however, is the fact that donation will never buy you an admin position. It don't work that way. Contribute and be part of the community if you have the aspiration (however insane) to become an administrator.
